On September 29, 2021, the world-class high earth-rock dam, the six largest hydropower stations in the southwest of China with the highest altitude of one million kilowatts, the first leading reservoir power station, the largest reservoir power station in Sichuan Province, the Lianghekou Hydropower Station officially put into operation to generate electricity.

Lianghekou Hydropower Station is located in Yajiang County, Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The gravel core rockfill dam is 295 meters high, which is the second highest earth-rock dam in the world.

Lianghekou Hydropower Station has the largest high slope group in the world, the highest flood discharge head in China and the largest flood discharge velocity in China. It is a leading reservoir power station developed by Yalong River Hydropower Development Co., Ltd. in the middle reaches of Yalong River. It is a key project of the country and Sichuan Province and a strategic project to optimize the structural adjustment of energy supply side in the Western development.

Lianghekou Hydropower Station approved the total investment of 66.457 billion yuan, the total installed capacity of 3 million kilowatts, the power station storage capacity of 10.8 billion cubic meters, with multi-year adjustment performance. The power station started construction in October 2014, stopped flow and started cofferdam filling in November 2015, and began water storage under the sluice in December 2020. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2023.

During the construction of Lianghekou hydropower Station, the cost of environmental protection water protection exceeded 1.6 billion yuan, and after the completion of the power station, the average annual power generation plus the downstream cascade power station, the annual power generation increased by compensation benefit is equivalent to reducing the raw coal consumption of 13.3 million tons. Reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 21.3 million tons and sulfur dioxide emissions by 200,000 tons, which is equivalent to four fewer buildings

The large coal mine with an annual output of 4 million tons will become one of the world's largest green, clean and renewable energy bases.
