Zhanjiang Airport (IATA: ZHA, ICAO: ZGZJ, or Zhanjiang Xiashan Airport, is located at No. 24 Airport Road, Xiashan District, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, China, 5 kilometers away from Zhanjiang City center. It is a 4C international branch airport and the only civil aviation airport in western Guangdong Province.
In 1936, the French colonists built an airport in Guangzhou Bay (today's Zhanjiang City), called the West Hall Airport; In October 1952, the airport opened civil aviation services; In March 1953, Zhanjiang Airport was established. In 1956, the airport was officially renamed Zhanjiang Airport. In March 2004, it joined Guangdong Airport Group and established Zhanjiang Airport Company. From 0:00 on March 24, 2022, Zhanjiang Airport will permanently close its civil facilities and no longer accept any flights. Zhanjiang Airport will be officially transferred to Zhanjiang Wuchuan Airport.
According to the official website of Zhanjiang Airport in February 2020, the domestic terminal area of Zhanjiang Airport is 12,521 square meters, and the international terminal area is 2,630 square meters. The runway is 2400 meters long and 45 meters wide, and the largest aircraft used are B737-900 and A321. The apron covers an area of 40,900 square meters, with 9 Class C slots.
