At 11:18 a.m. on November 25, 2021, with the last turbine connected to the grid, all 91 turbines of the Shanwei Houhu 500,000 kW offshore wind power project of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (CGNPC) were connected to the grid and generated electricity, becoming one of the largest offshore wind power projects in operation with a single capacity in China.
Shanwei Houhu offshore wind power project site is located in Shanwei City, Guangdong Province, the south side of the town of Lufeng Hudong sea, the center of the site about 12 kilometers offshore, water depth of 23 to 26 meters, a total of 91 sets of 5.5 MW wind turbines installed, including 82 sets of single-pile foundation, 8 sets of four-pile conduit frame foundation, a suction tube conduit frame foundation, supporting the construction of the east and west of the two 220kV offshore booster station and an onshore centralized control center.
CGN related sources, Shanwei Houhu offshore wind power project is located in the coastal waters of eastern Guangdong, is one of the most complex sea conditions in the country, the effective construction window of less than 100 days a year, the geological conditions are complex, the construction is difficult. Facing many challenges such as complex operating environment and new crown epidemic, CGNPC achieved the first batch of wind turbines connected to the grid and powered on April 30, 2021, completed the lifting of 91 wind turbines on October 1, 2021, and connected all units to the grid and generated electricity on November 25, 2021.
Data and statistics show that the project can generate 1.489 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually, and compared with coal-fired power plants, it can save 425,800 tons of standard coal consumption, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 860,500 tons, soot by 28.85 tons, sulfur dioxide by 713.30 tons, nitrogen dioxide by 198.67 tons, and ash by 28,300 tons per year. .
